Rock Guide
Lion's head Rock in LinAn, Zhejiang, is a hidden gem of eastern China—where lush bamboo forests, sweeping ridgelines, and clean granite faces come together just a stone’s throw from Hangzhou.
This two-day adventure pairs well-bolted sport routes with peaceful countryside charm, offering a perfect retreat for both new climbers and seasoned weekend warriors.
Whether you're chasing your first send or enjoying a day out in nature, Lion's head rock delivers vertical joy with a gentle breeze of discovery.
About this Journey
Before routes were bolted and topo maps drawn, the cliffs of LinAn had already stood as silent sentinels of time. Climbing is how we remember that connection—through touch, breath, and gravity.
Nestled on the outskirts of LinAn, Lion's Rock rises beside winding roads and forested slopes. Here, granite walls invite both movement and stillness—technical yet approachable, beautiful yet real.
With routes predominantly graded between 5.9 and 5.11+, Lion's Rock caters to climbers seeking to refine their skills and embrace new challenges. The well-textured granite ensures excellent friction, enhancing the climbing experience.
From balance-driven slabs to steep athletic lines, Lion's Rock doesn’t overwhelm—it invites. With a fairly short approach and easy access, it’s a weekend haven for climbers from Shanghai, Hangzhou and beyond.
Under the guidance of seasoned professionals, reaching the summit rewards climbers with panoramic vistas and a profound sense of accomplishment. This journey transcends mere physical exertion—it’s a holistic experience of body and spirit.
To climb here is to breathe with the forest, and feel the stone beneath your fingers—a rhythm that grounds you, challenges you, and quietly heals you.
